I Bought this 8GB flash drive because it is supposed to write at 8-15 MB per second for bigger files, but I think that as another person said before, I got a fake. I got a blue LED flash drive, and it copies at only 5 MB per second, not 8. This is the highest speed the flash drive has gotten so far. The description says you get a orange LED but I got blue, as some other people.

I have some older versions of these flash drives that are 10MB/s write, 30MB/s read (rounded windows, orange LED, maybe using the same guts as the old Rally 2 Turbos?), which are great.

I ordered some more and the ones I received are way slower; 5MB/s write, 15MB/s read (squared windows, blue LED)
(Benchmarked using ATTO on the same system)

Since then, I've bought some 8GB Voyager GTs that bench at 20MB/s write, 30MB/s read, better than even the old versions of these drives.
From my experience, from the currently available batches of flash drives, you're probably better off buying a Corsair 8GB Flash Voyager GT USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFVYA8GBGT or a Patriot Xporter XT Boost/Rage instead of these, which is unfortunate as I love OCZ products.


OCZ OCZUSBR2DC-8GB Review by John Krukoff

There are two types of this drive floating around. An older model with an orange LED which works fine with the XBox 360, and a newer (possibly counterfeit) model with a blue LED. The newer blue LED model fails to work with the XBox 360, with a "failed data loss test" error message. There does not seem to be any fix available, though the drive appears to work correctly on a PC.

If you're buying this drive as a high-speed XBox 360 memory card, be warned that it may not work at all!
